Secretary Rubio says the “State Department is immediately deploying search and rescue teams, medical resources, and humanitarian assistance to Venezuela.”
President Donald Trump and members of his administration are responding to twin earthquakes that hit Venezuela late Wednesday. The first was a 7.2 magnitude, and the second, larger quake was a 7.5, which struck just 40 seconds later, and dozens of aftershocks followed the quakes. At least 188 people were killed, nearly 1,000 were injured, and roughly 27,000 are missing. The death toll is expected to rise as search and rescue teams seek survivors.
President Donald Trump stated Wednesday evening, “The two major earthquakes that just hit the great people of Venezuela are both massive in scale and have left a devastating number of deaths. The U.S.A. stands ready, willing, and able to help! I have instructed all agencies of our government to get ready to move quickly. We will be there for our new and great friends.”
On Thursday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated the “State Department is immediately deploying search and rescue teams, medical resources, and humanitarian assistance to Venezuela. The United States extends our deepest condolences to the people of Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes. Our hearts are with all those who have lost loved ones, those injured, and the courageous rescue workers working tirelessly in the aftermath.”
Leaders from the Shield of the Americas, including President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador, President Javier Milei of Argentina, President Luis Abinader of the Dominican Republic, President José Antonio Kast of Chile, President José Raúl Mulino of Panama, President Laura Fernández of Costa Rica, and President Daniel Noboa of Ecuador, have all offered assistance and aid to Venezuela as well. Secretary Rubio confirmed the Latin American leaders are coordinating with President Trump’s administration and the U.S. military.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
